Plan B Craft

Plan B Craft was founded by Umutesi Sada in Cape Town South Africa sometimes in April year 2014, the name “Plan B Craft” was suggested by her husband. Allow us to elaborate how we came about with the company name: After being unfairly dismissed by Sada employer; she used her passion for craft since she was madly in love with that. She told herself “why not use what I have, to earn an honest living?” Since then she started to brain storm how she is going to start. With the help of her husband who was highly motivating her, Plan B Craft was born. We started to produce, bearing a positive mind that with the help of God, one day we are going to reach our objectives.

Umutesi Sada is originally from Burundi, married and mother of one. She hold a bachelor degree in administration, she graduated at the Universite Libre at Kigali Rwanda.

There was subjected to a lot challenges along the way, in finding place to trade, or to find out who can buy our products. After doing a lot of research, we could not find anything. We decided to sell our products to the people who going to resell it. Finally we approached a family friend who happened to have a frame shop around old biscuit mill in Woodstock, the man was kind enough to offer us a space in front of his shop. From then we started to trade every Saturday.

The Company is specialized with designing earring made out of off cuts material, different type of lather bracelets; necklaces made out of bids; lather bags. Basically 90% of our products are made out of off cuts or wasted lather.

Plan B Craft mission is to show case what African creativity is, to the world. We exist to attract and maintain customers, when we adhere to this maximum, everything else will fall into place. Our products will exceed the expectation of our customers.

Our objectives for the first three years of operation include:

  • To create the best design of bracelets proudly made in South Africa.

  • To develop sustainable small business , living off its cash flow to grow the business in the next 3 years

  • Finally to create Employment in the next three years by opening more businesses to different location, as we believe that this will help reducing the rate of unemployment that South Africa is facing.
